Dr. Michael E. Douglas is the 21st Century Chair in Global Change Biology at the University of Arkansas. He is co-director of aCaMEL (Arkansas Molecular Ecology and Conservation Laboratory) and is a molecular ecologist / conservation biologist with broad interests in quantitative ecology, evolution, genomics and conservation.

Much of Dr. Douglas’s research focuses on the genetic variation found in fish communities, species and populations, and the manner by which genetic diversity is impacted by historical and contemporary habitat fragmentation. His study species are diverse, and include endangered, threatened and relictual species, as well as those distributed more globally. He also works actively on invasive species, parasites and microbial communities.
